In 2019, the world will mark the 74th anniversary of the WWII End. The victory over Nazism – is one of the most important events in the world history. We are obliged to pass on the memory about those, who fell in the war, to the next generations. The veterans pass away; day after day their number decreases progressively, and the celebration of the Victory Day gives the opportunity to express our gratitude for their deeds.
Being a Chairman of the Toronto Victory Day Organizing Committee, I turn to you, the person whom I know, trust and believe that you will not remain indifferent to this event.
I invite you to take part in all the following events prepared by various organizations, especially on May 9. Although this is a working day, but this very day is the Victory Day, and we have prepared for you an extensive holiday program.
This year the celebration includes many events:
- May 4, Saturday, Charitable Car Rally
10 a.m. Gathering Place – Earl Bales Park (4169 Bathurst St., Toronto).
Destination – Canadian Forces Base Borden (18 Waterloo Road East,

12 p.m. Gathering at the south-west corner of Yonge and Dundas
intersection (Dundas station).

12 p.m. Gathering at south-east plaza of the intersection.

12.30 p.m. The ceremony starts at Nathan Phillips Square, 100 Queen St. W.

4.00 p.m. Exposition of archive materials and photographs, which show the most
important events of the Great Patriotic War: Battle for Moscow, Blockade of
the City of Leningrad, Stalingrad Battle, Kursk Battle.
Exposition of Ludmila Shnaider “My Dear Veterans”
4.45 p.m. Laying flowers in front of the monument
5.00 p.m. Victory Parade
5.30 p.m. Official part in the amphitheatre: congratulation of veterans and guests.
Holiday concert.
“Soldier’s porridge”, songs at the fireplace, dancing, children’s playground,
souvenirs, food and recreation areas.

It will be possible to realize this Project only due to public donations.
I address you with a request on behalf of the Organizing Committee to support this important
event. Any sum of money will be a big support.

The expenses include the following:
- Rent of premises and territories for the holiday organization (park, community centre, washrooms, amphitheatre).
- Celebratory dinner for veterans.
- Sound equipment rental.
- Security, medical attendance and insurance of the event.
- Motor Vehicle rental for veterans (open motor cars, golf cars).
We are looking forward to seeing you at our event and hope for your support.
If anybody of you can be a volunteer on May 9, it will be a big support for the common holiday.
We need volunteers’ help for the following:
- Festive dinner serving for 80 veterans at the Community Centre
(from 6.30 p.m. to 8 p.m.). - Sale of coffee, chebureks, patty cakes, pancakes and souvenirs
(3.30 p.m. – 8 p.m.). Help by shift hours it’s possible. - Assembling of decorations, photographic and archive exhibition
(before the holiday starts). - Arrangement of electric equipment at the amphitheatre and computer centre
(in case of nasty weather). - Delivery of coffee in big thermoses from “Tim Horton” and snacks from the restaurant.
